Durch die Linse - through the lense

Die Ideen für diesen Blog kommen mir meistens unterwegs, an der Uni, in der Stadt. Deshalb beobachte ich alles immer sehr genau, damit mir nichts entgeht, was ich für meinen Blog benutzen könnte. So auch heute: Ich war auf dem Heimweg und schaute mich nach kleinen Inspirationen um. Kurz vor der Haustüre, als ich schon dachte, heute nichts zu zeichnen zu haben, dann diese Situation: Eine kleine Reisegruppe von Asiaten kamen der Strasse entlang, stoppten plötzlich und ausnahmslos alle nahmen irgendwas ins Visier. Durch eine geeignete Kamera natürlich.
Ich denke, wenn wir auf Reisen sind, machen wir unglaublich viele Fotos. Für meinen Geschmack meistens zu viele. ich habe das Gefühl, wenn man ein Foto von etwas macht, dann schaut man es gar nicht richtig an. Die Situation ist wiederkehrend: Oh, etwas schönes/grosses/imposantes, schnell ein Foto, und dann zum nächsten. Man hat es ja auf dem Foto, um es dann nochmals anzuschauen. Dabei nimmt man die Umwelt gar nicht richtig wahr.
Ich skizziere lieber, als dass ich fotografiere. Dabei muss man das Objekt genau wahrnehmen, und man wird es nicht mehr vergessen.

The ideas for this blog usually come to me on the road, at the university, in the city. That's why I always watch everything very closely, so I don't miss anything I could use for my blog. So today I was on my way home and looked around for small inspirations. Shortly before the front door, as I was beginning to think I don't have anything to draw, this situation: a small group of Asians came along the road, stopped suddenly, and without exception they all took something in target. Through a suitable camera, of course.
I think when we travel, we make an incredible number of photos. Usually too many for my taste. I feel like if you take a photo of something, you don't look at it right. The situation is recurring: Oh, something nice/great/impressive, quick take a photo, and then on to the next. Of course, you do have it on the photo to look at it again. But you don't really notice your environment.
I rather sketch than photograph. While sketching, one must perceive the object accurately, and you'll never forget it.
