Gesichter - Faces

(for english text see below)

(english)
I'm sure everybody had to describe a faceto someone someday. For me (and for many, almost all the people that I know) that sounds something like this: "Yeah, well, the one with the, hmm, with the glasses." Or: "Um, the girl with the blond long hair." Not very helpful. Why is that? On one hand, I think, you just do not really look at each other. What is understandable, one must listen to the other and keep the environment in mind, while you actually want to look up the time on the phone. On the other hand it could also be that although there are many words for the different nose, eyes, ears, and mouth shapes in the language, but they are not very rooted in the common speech. Who the hell would says: "The one with the long, slightly tapered hooked nose, with slightly rounded almond-shaped eyes, which have rounded nicely, pretty thick lashes and a narrow, broad, almost wavy mouth with whitish lips."
